Speech #4

Bill AG8 intends to reduce the initial fee for truckers who fail the first inspection test. Failure to pass inspection and depending on the reason of failure results in an increase of the inspection fee. As the
Democrat party we believe in giving second chances which we are by reducing the fee, also we believe that the values of hardworking families are the values that should guide us, and truckers are usually parts of those families. Some times board members make bias decisions for their own benefit and that's not Democratic. AG8 prohibits boards members of the Department of Food and Agriculture from voting on issues where there are any kind of personal interest. Psychological tests preformed by the F.P.G. (Fulton Psychological Group) proved that 1 out of 7 decisions have some sort of bias. As Democrats we want every decision made from our leaders to be fair to the the hard working citizens.

Improved essay

  • Bill AB-1488 also known as A.N.F.C. age of New farmers Councils
  • teach the value of healthy food to regular people
  • make food intimate again (benefits)
  • 7 members. odd  number will provide a fair distribution of decision making between members
  • their pay is 30 an hour 10 hours a week
  • 4 goals: sell, buy, grow and projects
  • sell- farmers sell product to people without a middle man, this makes food a lot cheaper (and come on who doesn't like healthy food)
  • buy- consumer will have a better quality of  food if they buy it directly from farmers
  • Grow- project - The A.N.F.C. will work with local farmers within communities to show local residents how to have an active role in communities’ farms. imagine your kids playing with farm animal and how happy they will be
(Sound like a pirate captain-ish) The original bill, AB-1488 deals with a movement called food justice. The bills make The Department of Food and Agriculture, The Department of Social Services, and the Public Health Department to come together and provide recommendations to improve food relationship between the consumer and farmer and the promotion of healthy food. To improve this bill, they created the A.N.F.C. (Age of New Farmers Council) a type of bill that cares for the community, takes care if it by, keep it healthy by providing fresh food, and creating a relationship between the consumers and farmers. We are making food justice with this new great bill. What is food justice you ask? Well, Food justice is ensuring the benefits of know who made this food, where was it made, how was it made, is it organic, who transported and distributed the good. (Stop talking like a pirate)
The council should consist of 7 members. 7 because this way, an odd number will prevent bias and make decision go fasters. The members are elected to run the A.N.F.C. Which are going to be picked by professionals’ government members and local people too from all different communities in California. By letting the government choose, we will have professionals in charge. By letting the people choose, we have the voice of the community saying what we want to fix and improve. The members are working 10 hours a week for $30.
There are four main goals to this bill; those main goals are the following: First, selling cheap products that will not hurt the consumer’s wallet. Second, buy high qualities products from farmers. Third, to grow and show people how to know the food you eat and get more intimate with it, and fourth, to create and make progress in new projects like this bill.
First, the way this bill plans to decrease the prices of products for consumers is to make sells directly from farmers and not a middle man. The middle man usually increases the products price by 50 percent. Imagine getting a brand new car for half of the price. That would be really nice, same goes for the food prices. This will also put more money in the consumer’s wallet and have enough money to buy other product and this will boost the economy. Second, buyers, they will get fresh, organic, and healthy product directly from farmers. Farmers are honest professionals that know what's good for the consumer and they could give you really good advice and give a better quality standard of food, if this bill will pass.
Third, the grow and  fourth, projects of this bill will spread the smart relationship between farmers and consumers, forcing Californians move to a better future where food will be healthy, organic, cheap, and comes from a professional Local farmer. Three cities that set the example for this are: Pomona, Upland, and Ontario.

(angry voice) Do we want truckers bringing harmful products into California or NOT even passing the safety inspections for our own safe? Do you think the board members should over power the voice of the people? Well, if you believe harmful products and unsafely huge trucks should be out on the streets. Also, that board members should limit and kill the voice of others. You will vote against bill AG-8. (calm myself and speak softly) If not, are you part of the group of people who prevents accidents and unfairness from happening? Then you will vote for this bill. You will have the opportunity to be part of a group which wants a better future and safe too. There are 350,000 trucks go in and out of California every day and around 5% contains harmful products and could devastate the peaceful life style of Californians.
Our bill will correct those two problems. For the first section, it will make illegal for member of the board to vote in issues where there is a personal conflict. Since the governor we pick is responsible of picking the 15 members of the Department of Food and Agriculture, the governor should also be responsible of making sure the board members do not create bias. Depending of the circumstances the governor of California should give a high fee,  low fee, or no fee at all.
The second section of out bill does few things for the truckers; This bill is giving truckers a second chances by decreasing the fee to a $100, but depending on the circumstances of the infraction the penalty may increase. Each time the truckers commit the same crime against this bill, the free will increase up to a maximum of $2,500, also depending how often the truckers commits the same crime and the inspectors professional decision. According with the DVM's records 1 out of 12 truckers do not pass the inspections.( tone of voice is happy and confident) Inspectors of California are responsible for penalizing violators and making our streets safe.
Our party should support our bill because of the following reasons; first, as Democrats we believe in second chances and we are giving opportunities to truckers and board members to better themselves. Second, we decrease the amount of fee truckers and board member may receive depending in the situation and our city agrees with this bill (Give a happy face to the audience:) Third, we are providing security to our streets, protecting everyone from possible poisoning foods, and preventing bias. Fourth and last, This bill if for the people.

Intro       Do we want truckers bringing harmful products into California or NOT even passing the safety inspections  for our own safe?(angry/smart tone) Do you think the government should over power the voice of the people? Well, if you believe harmful products and unsafely huge trucks should be out on the streets. That governors or board members with more power should limit and kill the voice of others. You will vote against bill AG-8. (calm myself and speak soft again) If not, are you part of the group of people who prevents accidents and unfairness from happening? Then you will vote for this bill. You will have the opportunity to by part of a group which wants a better future and prevent any type of accidents from happening. There are 350,000 trucks go in and out of California and around 5% contain harmful products and could kill thousands of people and devastate the peaceful life style of Californians.

Conclusion
As Democrats we believe in second chances. Truckers and board members need to learn from their mistakes. No one is perfect and no one learn over night, this is why we should lower the fee given to truckers and board member, but also keeping on check and punishing those who abused this bill. This is why we lower the minimum and increase the maximum fee limits. We have responsible and trustful people in charge of inspecting them. We are the one who pick the governor and the inspectors who check them. This way we could give the second chances to those people who make mistake because they are learning, but we can prevent from those who violate this bill unperpesly by having the inspectors and governor checking on them.

we need the questions for Ogden.
A. (The Problem)
The first problem that our bill addresses is the fact that a member of the Board of Food and Agriculture
can bring up and vote on an issue that they themselves are involved. Creating bias and using most of the money for themselves. This will upset the majority population of farmers because the prices of good from does 15 member of the board will be incredibly low compare to the average farmers prices. Making them go out of business and damaging our agriculture. What this means is that if a member of the Department of Food and Agricultural is in need of financial help for his or her business or has certain investments, that member can bring it up in a meeting and also vote on the issue creating a conflict of interests. The second problem that our bill tries to solve is that everyday plants and other agricultural goods are brought into California and they could be carrying harmful pests. 315,000 trucks passing through California everyday. Right now every 60 days California gains a new potentially damaging invasive species. This is because trucks that
carry these things have to go through inspection stations. Also, we as Democrats want to give truckers second chances which they do not have. truckers aren't getting second opportunities to improve their mistakes.

B. (Party Stance/Solution)
We come from the land of democrats and have liberal views. And since we believe in second chances,
we want to reduce the initial fee to a $100 for truckers who avoid inspection stations. This will leave more money in the truckers or companies budget . However because of continues violators. We also decided to raise the maximum from $1,000 to $2,500. This will motivate the violator to stop committing the crime. Inspectors are responsible from enforcing this section of the bill, they have the power to give a fee of a maximum of $2,500. This bill will reduce illegal or infected products by 0.03%. Now the second section of our bill. The governor is responsible of enforcing this section of the bill since he or she is responsible from picking the 15 members of the Department of Food and Agriculture. The members of the board can not vote on personal business, if they do follow our bill they will be charge by the governor. The fee will vary depending the severity of the infraction. However this doesn't mean that the members of the boards can't state an argument for their business.
C. (How is this different than the other party's position)
If this bill were from the other party's position the initial fee for trucks not going through inspection
stations would be raise as would the maximum amount. Also, not giving them second chances. For the second section of the bill, members of the Department of Food and Agriculture would be able to continuing voting in favor of their business producing conflicts with the majority of farmers. This would mean that member of the board can vote in personal issues and business over powering the majority of farmers issues. This also means farmers would not resolve their problems, go out of business, and hurt the agricultural economy of California.

D. (Why is your stance better)
Our stance is the best stance because it allows for every farmer to votes and comment in all issues involving agriculture. This will give every individual an equal voice and same amount of power in solving a problem involving agriculture. The second section of the bill is also the best stance because it give truckers a second chance, but it also prevents truckers from committing by increasing the maximum fee. This will discouraging violators from committing the same crime and stopping them from violation the bill again.

interview #2. Muay thai trainer

interview # 2 (Rodrigo Aguilera)

What makes some a professional Muay Thai trainer?

Well, you need to be quality by the international martial art people. You need three years minimum to be become a firs level trainer. There are three levels. My trainer has pass eleven years training and he is level 4, but he has trained no stop for the pass eleven years. now imagine how long would it really take!

What makes you a professional Muay Thai trainer?

To become a professional trainer you need a few things: 1) you need to be a leader (not everyone are leaders) 2) you need followers. People to teach. and 3) you need technique. Rodrigo said "I have all those qualities and i also enjoy teaching something I l.o.v.e."

What is a leader and a follower?

A leader is someone able to help other people with out frustration, because you don't wanna make your student or the person that you're teaching that they can't do it. Instead you want them to feel comfortable and confident so they won't feel intimidated by a more advance student. (Being a leader come from you, you can't teach to be a leader)
A follower is a person that wants to learn and it's whiling to do what it takes to become a better fighter. There are two kind of students: the one that want to learn and expect more from the teacher and the one that are close minded. Those two students are the one that keep the trainer with attitude to continue teaching

Why are you a trainer?

Rodrigo is a trainer, because he enjoys martial arts and he likes to help people in what he's good at. Also a friendly competition that almost made him quit Muay Thai in the beginning because he was a rocky and he lost three fights (later on he defeated those three people)

Who got you into Muay Thai? or How did you decide to practice Muay Thai?

Well, like I said in the previous question. Those three fighters were the reason why he almost quit, but also the reason why he is a such a good trainer. He didn't accepted defeat. (just like me) and he trained really hard for two years going to the gym every day. Most of the times he was the first one at the gym and the last one too. Imagine the amount of energy and forces he had back then. Now he is less powerful, but he has something way better. An awesome technique that almost no one can defeat. Only people that are higher than level 6 on Muay Thai (each level it takes 2-4 years to complete)

What things do you enjoy in your career?

The thing i enjoy the most its when i get to watch my fighters fight and they being able to kick every ones ass. This makes the gym (where people train Muy Thai) look better (it improves reputation). it makes the trainer and fighter look better and it motivates them to do better and keep that tittle.

5 Minute Presentation Review

1)What would you say stood out about your presentation performance?     The thing that people said that stood out about my presentation was that it was really fun and it kept them thinking about what I have to say next. I would say it was because I called people to go up and demonstrate what I was talking about. This way the audience would feel like if they were part of the presentation (which they were)

2) What was most challenging to do and why?

I think the most challenging think to do in my presentation is to keep people in the topic (actually giving the audience information and they being able to retain it), because some friends told me that it was fun. I want it to be fun, but I don't want to get out of topic and let my audience think that my presentation it's a jock.
The way I'm thinking to keep people focused and not too distracted would be to teach everything first, then have all three activities and make them use the abilities that I would've taught them.

Interview 1

a) I'm interested in studying Muay Thai. What can you tell me about it?
Muay Thai it's know as  the "ART OF THE EIGHT LIMBS," because this martial art uses both hands, elbows, knees and feet. In the beginning of the training it's really though in your body. After six weeks your body will get use to the physical activities and it will be fun and you'll enjoy yourself. The main thing you'll be working on it's cardio and stamina.

b) From your perspective, what could I study that would be significant to other people?
You could study anything in the medical area for three good reasons: 1. you like it and you wouldn't called a job, but a career. 2. You make money and help people and 3. It will help you understand Muay Thai, because you'll understand how the injuries work, happen and more.

c) Who else would you recommend I talk to?
Dwayne Johnson, he's my personal trainer and he also has won a lot of tittles. Dwayne could give you way more information than me. He has his own Muay Thai gym.

d)What kinds of places or activities do you recommend I do for the service learning requirement?
GO TO A MUAY THAI GYM! You'll learn all the possible moves you want, you'll meet some really nice people with great personalities, and they will help you with your project!

e) What books should I read in this field? What other resources can you recommend?
There are magazines and books that could help you, but the best way to get any type of information about Muay Thai it's the Internet.

Notes of the conversation I had with Johny

What roles or what things play a part when you or anyone fight?
The five main things that play a role when you fight in a Muay Thai gym are: 1)Mentality 2)Stamina 3) You must have skills to fight 4) Cardio (a good heart) 5) Adrenaline. You need this five things to be a good Muay Thai fighter.
You need to respect your opponent, because a dog can have his day any day

Additional information: the reason why i pick this person is because he started like me, became a professional fighter and he is a Muay Thai teacher now
